Our entire business is art ecosystem-centric and we have something distinctive to offer for every category of the art ecosystem:

Customers: We own such a mastery in balancing 80-90 colours/screens on an average for each of the 125 editions of an artwork that each of the edition delivers exactly the same registration, colour, effect and quality. None of our clients looking at any of our serigraph ever believes in first instance that is a print. Furthermore, our consumers show us plenty of gratitude for producing art that they can afford, thus assisting them in pursue their passion of collecting art or for décor purpose without having to worry about cost, quality and authenticity.

Artists: The artists we work with cannot stop thanking us for making their work reach a wider audience around the globe. An artist in general produces less number of paintings, which are then highly priced for obvious reasons. Because most of general public is not well acquainted with the nuances of art, they assume those artworks expensive and consequentially do not buy them.

DRS Editions and
the Future of Indian Serigra

Chinese prints and European posters are a thing of past now. You no longer want to see a replica of your cherished piece of art hanging in the coffee shop down the street. With increased awareness, art lovers worldwide want to acquire a piece of Indian art that will have very limited distribution, that will last forever, and to feel connected to that piece of aesthetic beauty that they purchase.

By their very nature, DRS Editions develops limited edition prints that have a tactile quality, is wonderful to handle and exudes such richness of colours that is impossible to comprehend on the screen.

We have observed a gradual increase in the demand of art prints in the last decade from tier 2 and tier 3 cities apart from the metro cities of India. This is a positive sign for DRS Editions and the Indian art and serigraph market.

Serigraphs developed at DRS Editions suits the pockets of these consumers and thus we are observing an increasing interest and demand towards Indian art prints.

The Story so far

When we launched DRS Fine Arts (earlier known as Marvel Art Gallery), we were the pioneers and national innovators in building a professional art gallery in Gujarat. In order to market one’s art business effectively, it’s important to understand one’s audience! The first five years of company acquainted us with the niche audience and high-profile collectors who collected artworks of upcoming as well as master artists. But, that segment of clientele was very limited.

On the flip side we observed an expanding art market, with changes not only in what artwork is appreciated and bought, but why are they being bought and appreciated and by whom. We perceived that the public was very interested in art, but were scared of entering the venue called ‘art gallery’. They loved and appreciated art, but the highly-priced and uniquely created artworks made them unaffordable and inaccessible for the public. It was that moment that made us realize the huge potential of expanding to new markets.

How DRS Editions Rehabilitated
the Art Ecosystem

The time, efforts and factors we considered when making the best-quality limited edition prints, have fortuitously paid off well in changing people’s perception that art is very expensive and is only for rich. DRS Editions’ offerings of affordable art in the form of quality limited edition prints with authentication certificate have attracted a whole new segment of art lovers and buyers.

Our company believes in offering its customers a unique experience of buying ‘Art’ instead of buying just a reproduction.

DRS Editions has aided in refining public’s judgement of art for the entire art ecosystem: not just for the art collectors, but even for the artists who have always desired a level-playing field; and also for the art culture, which has now become far more representative of the entire art society.

DRS Editions attracts a whole new segment of art lovers and buyers by offering quality limited edition prints of the artist’s artworks with authentication certificate and thus making them affordable for all. This way the art reaches thousands of homes, and the artist gets mileage and money, while the client gets to own the best of Indian art at an affordable range.

Students: Students and research scholars get to learn various serigraph techniques by visiting DRS Editions studio and also by studying our serigraphs, which are otherwise not easily available in India.

Museums: Many museums from across the globe contact us to collect serigraphs of the finest works of Indian artists which would otherwise lose their esteemed value by lying buried in a private collection.

If we compare Indian art market with the international art market, we are still in the formative years. We can conceive a huge gap if we compare the price at what the limited editions of Andy Wharol sells at and the price the Indian master MF Husain’s art prints sells at. This vast difference is slowly shrinking and this shows that the Indian art market still has a long way to go in domestic as well as international circuit.

Most of the urban class consumers have globally been wide exposed to the internet, international museums and art fairs. Thus a huge class of art lovers have now began showing interest towards Indian fine arts. All that they are seeking is to procure Indian art at affordable rates to adorn the walls of their houses and their workplaces.
