serigraphs

Realising that it was important to make art affordable,
city-based art promoter Dhanvi Shah came out with
a portfolio of serigraphs. The portfolio has nine serigraphs,
all from the show titled Nagarnama-3 that he held recently
featuring Harshil Patel’s paintings and 3D art installations.
The art work on display depicted Patel’s experiences related
to three cities — Jaisalmer, Varanasi and Florence.

A serigraph is cheaper than the original art work which makes
it affordable.Through the portfolio, Shah aims to promote the
interest of art lovers in investing in affordable art. He says,
“The motto is to widen the reach of art work. If we make more
of quality serigraphs available at affordable costs, art lovers
would be interested in investing in it.”

As a mark of appreciation of Shah’s motto and hard work, the
Offset Printers’ Association (OPA) recently conferred on him the
Print Bhushan award. Kamal Chopra, from OPA said that the
association had unanimously selected the Shah for the honour
considering that he had the vision to expand the reach of art and
introduce screen printing technology for making serigraphs. He said,
“We work tirelessly towards widening the reach of art and keep
updating our print technology to deliver the best quality.” He is
known for creating special effects in serigraphs for various mediums
like charcoal, oil and pastel used in original art works.

He has also won five national awards for fine serigraphs by All India
Federation of Master Printers in 2012 and Print Week India. Following
demand from art enthusiasts, the show Nagarnama 3, being held at
Marvel gallery on SG Highway, has been extended till Jan 10.
