Gargi Bansod finds out more about its intricacies

If you are an art enthusiast, here’s your chance to catch a glimpse of Indo-Greek art. Marvel Art Gallery is showcasing The World of Ravindra Salve, a sublime mythology inspired art show where expressions of the artist come to life on canvas.
The solo show of this Mumbai-based artist revolves around the fantasy art genre. This series of his work on display features Greek figures and Indian miniatures that portray positivity. happiness and success. The ‘invented mythology’ series has distinct imagery, with the characters amalgamating to form dance notations, all of which lead to symbolism.
Favouring vibrant hues, Ravindra Salve incorporates a bold use of Indian colours, suggesting a virtual flight of fantasy, figurative and religious. Salve has used figures and shapes that dominate the canvas with larger than life images, in sense of proportion as well as colour.
Ravindra says, “The most unique
thing about the series is the fantasy genre, which is very rarely seen in Indian artwork. The use of Indo-Greek art and the symbolic use of the objects aspire to spread positivity and happiness. I want people who see my work to feel the same positive vibes and happiness that I felt when I was creating them.”
Marvel Art Gallery has also launched a book on the artist, titled, The World of Ravindra Salve. The aim of the book was to showcase Salve’s present series and reach out to, art lovers and the next generation of artists. In addition, the gallery’s graphic house, Marvel Graphic Studio, has produced Salve’s limited edition serigraphs under the Affordable Art Series, which has a set of six serigraphs in a portfolio.
